Their rivalry has no limits. The battle for supremacy over who has a better mobile device has spread to smartwatches too and it is raging right now.
When two major companies compete, only one party truly wins. Third party – you. Their battle makes them improve their devices at an alarming rate and at the same time lower their prices. They inspire one another to come up with new amazing ideas that would trump the competitor and win over the market. You can only be thankful for their everlasting battle since they’ve come so far that no matter which one you choose, you will definitely be happy with your decision.
This doesn’t mean that there are no differences between the two. You may find one more suitable than the other and for that reason, we prepared a small, relevant comparison to help you decide.
Apple watch vs. Android wear
First of all, let’s talk about Apple watch. Apple watch comes in three different materials which are aluminum, stainless steel or 18k gold. The more you pay, the better the material. There is no difference in what the watch can actually do; the only difference is the material that it is made of. There are two different sizes, 38mm and 42mm, which is reasonable since not everyone has the same hand size. Android, on the other hand, comes in all shapes and sizes. So if you’re not a fan of how one particular Android smartwatch looks, you can always find another one that you like.
Both Android and Apple watches have nice, beautiful displays but what differentiates them is that the apple watch offers a technology called force touch. This means that the watch will be able to sense how hard you press the display. At the moment there are only a few uses for this feature, but they definitely have plans to make it a lot more useful.
When it comes to apps, Android has been around a bit longer, so they currently have more apps, but this gap will become irrelevant quite soon. The one thing Apple watch can do that android wear can’t is make phone calls. Furthermore, this feature may be insignificant to you depending on where you live, but Apple watch can also use a feature called apple pay. This allows you to pay what you’ve bought in supermarkets or wherever using your smartwatch.
Both android and apple watch can be used for fitness purposes. They can measure your heart rate, track your steps, and even measure the distance if you’re walking or running. Newer devices from both companies have built-in GPS, allowing you to leave your phone at home.
One of the things people find most important is battery life. When it comes to battery life Android Wear takes the cake. Ordinarily, android watch’s battery lasts up to two days whereas apple watch’s battery usually holds up to eighteen hours.
As you can see, they are quite similar with just a few differences. The thing you should remember though is, Apple watch will only work with iPhone where android watch will only work with phones that use android OS. So unless you want to buy a new phone, stick with the system you already have.
